Brooke DriessePlease note that the Request to Host for the 2013 Safe Routes to School National Conference was not released on April 16 as stated below. Stay tuned as we will send it out as soon as possible!

Just a month since my intro blog, and here I am writing with an update on not only the 2012 Pro Walk Pro Bike Conference and the Safe Routes Partnership’s Annual Meeting (as promised), but with an exciting tidbit about the 2013 Safe Routes to School National Conference to boot.

In case you hadn’t heard already, registration is now open for Pro Walk Pro Bike, which means that registration is open for our free Annual Meeting as well. Click here to sign up for both today! Pro Walk Pro Bike will take place September 10-13, 2012 in Long Beach, California. The Safe Routes Partnership’s Annual Meeting will be from 1-5pm on September 10, in conjunction with the Conference. If you want to sign up for just our Annual Meeting, you can do so by sending me an email at brooke@saferoutespartnership.org. More details will be coming soon on the theme and focus of our meeting, but you can expect learning and networking opportunities, federal updates on the future of the Safe Routes to School program and much more.

And now, the news you have all been waiting for. Drumroll please…the Request to Host for the 2013 Safe Routes to School National Conference will be released in just three weeks, on April 16, 2012. If you want to show off your city’s commitment to Safe Routes to School and host hundreds of enthusiastic advocates, watch your email box or our website on April 16 for an announcement from the Safe Routes Partnership and our co-sponsor, the National Center for Safe Routes to School, with the Request to Host proposal and timeline.

The last conference that took place in Minneapolis of August 2011 was invigorating and left everyone wanting more, so we can hardly wait to choose next year’s location and host for the 4th Safe Routes to School National Conference. It is always a tough decision with so many qualified applicants ready to showcase their awesome Safe Routes to School work in beautiful cities. We look forward to seeing your community’s proposal!
