This October I was asked to write a guest post for the Green Trips program blog on how families and children can learn about their impact on the environment, their health, and their budgets by choosing to bike or walk for transportation instead of using a car. Hosted by the Chattanooga Hamilton County Regional Planning Agency, the GreenTrips program acquaints area residents and commuters with healthy, cost-effective, and fun transportation alternatives to driving alone. The free program provides incentives and educational resources for walking, biking, carpooling, transit, and telecommuting. GreenTrips also offers a ridesharing application to match compatible users for carpooling, biking, walking, and transit trips.
The goal of the Green Trips program is to improve air quality, reduce traffic congestion, keep money in the regional economy, by reducing money spent on gas and reduce the public costs of road infrastructure, parking, and health care. Read the blog here.
