We are pleased to announce our next California webinar on Wednesday, May 31st at 11 am: USDOT’s Safe Streets for All Program - Opportunities for California Communities!  This webinar will serve as an introduction to Safe Streets for All (SS4A), a new federal program created by 2021’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. SS4A offers both Planning and Demonstration Grants, and Implementation Grants: the former can set up your community well for the latter, or an Active Transportation Program infrastructure project.

Join us to learn more about the program and resources for applying (applications for the next cycle are due July 10, but it is a straightforward application that can be completed in a week or less. Registering for the federal awarding system (SAM) can take time if an applicant is not yet set up, as will completing a handful of required standard forms, but if you get started shortly after this webinar, you’ll be fine).

Also, hear from current SS4A grantee Stephen Hanamaikai of the San Luis Obispo Council of Governments about how SLOCOG is using SS4A to engage the community of Oceano in creating an action plan for walking and biking improvements.

While this webinar will have some information specifically for communities and agencies in California, anyone in the country working to make communities safer for walking and biking are welcome and can expect to learn plenty of helpful information about SS4A and how it can be leveraged for improvements in their communities.
