Several cities within Riverside and San Bernardino Counties are developing and updating active transportation plans. Developing plans ensure cities have a blueprint to implement a vision of prioritized projects and policies that support walking and biking for local residents. The plans in development that we are aware of are listed below, along with the status and a link to learn more. Riverside County:
Riverside County Transportation Commission’s Traffic Relief Plan is currently up for review. RCTC is currently collecting feedback on strategies to alleviate traffic for residents, plus input on better ways to move throughout the County. Surveys are also being collected on their website.
The City of Wildomar’s Mobility Plan has had three community advisory committee meetings to develop strategies that support safe walking and biking policy so far. The City is also collecting feedback through online surveys and online mapping tools.
The City of Riverside has held one meeting and solicited a survey for the PACT (Pedestrian Target Safeguarding Plan, Active Transportation Plan, a Complete Streets Ordinance and a Trails Master Plan) process. The City of Riverside is gearing up to convene stakeholders in Spring 2020 to develop the plan with community input.
The City of Perris was selected to work with SCAG to develop a Disadvantaged Communities Planning initiative. The plan will be used to support active transportation projects.
San Bernardino County:
City of Montclair has hosted three technical advisory committee meetings to receive feedback on priority projects for the development of their Active Transportation Plan.
CIty of Rialto’s Active Transportation Plan has been finalized after several technical advisory committee meetings and community engagement events were held to develop policies for the the City’s vision.
The City of Ontario convenes a monthly technical advisory committee for feedback on their Active Transportation Master Plan. The planning process has also included a mapping tool for stakeholders to visualize the prioritized projects.
The City of Highland and Adelanto are also working with SCAG to develop a Disadvantaged Communities Plans to support active transportation projects.
