CalTrans has released a draft California Transportation Plan 2050 that lays out strategies for the state’s transportation over the next thirty years. Along with partners from the ClimatePlan coalition, we have submitted a comment letter supporting key parts of the plan, including its focus on reducing vehicle miles traveled (VMT), increasing access to safe and convenient active transportation options, and improving transit and shared mobility options. However, we believe the plan has gaps in its commitment to equity and public health that should be addressed in the final plan.
