Yoselyn Owolabi is a passionate, justice-driven advocate committed to amplifying the voices of marginalized communities. Guided by her experience as an Afro-Latina and her early encounters with systemic injustice, Yoselyn's advocacy is rooted in ensuring that no one feels powerless in the face of institutions meant to protect them.

As a rising junior at Howard University from Houston, Texas, majoring in political science with a minor in legal communications, Yoselyn plans to attend law school. She aspires to become a defense attorney focused on reducing harsh sentencing for petty crimes and advocating for the wrongfully incarcerated. Long-term, she aims to influence national policy through congressional or administrative reform, always focusing on representing and protecting marginalized communities.

Since arriving at Howard University, Yoselyn has expanded her work in both governmental and community-based advocacy. She serves as the 1st Attorney General for the Howard University Student Association (HUSA), where she leads initiatives that elevate student voice and address institutional accountability. She previously served in HUSA’s Governmental Affairs & Policy Department, where she played a key role in organizing civic engagement events aimed at increasing student participation in the 2024 presidential election. She also supported HUSA Senators in executing the second annual "Howard on the Hill," an impactful lobbying initiative connecting students with congressional representatives.

As a federal policy intern with the Safe Routes Partnership, Yoselyn looks forward to Congressional lobbying efforts and contributing to policy strategies that prioritize active transportation and public health. Yoselyn is committed to uplifting the Howard community, the D.C. community, and her hometown of Houston by using the law & policy to advocate for equity and access.
