The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) announced $20.3 million in grants to support improvements for bicycle and pedestrian safety and connectivity across the state, including $17.8 million in funding under the federal Transportation Alternatives Program. Also known as the Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside, this program provides federal capital funding to bicycle, pedestrian, recreational trail and Safe Routes to School projects.

We are pleased to report that seven projects will provide funding to Safe Routes to School projects in the cities of Hagerstown, Baltimore, College Park, Brunswick and Takoma Park as well as Dorchester and Montgomery counties. Visit the MDOT’s website to learn more about these and the other selected projects.
