Walk to School Day 2017

International Walk to School Day was held on October 4th, and once again, the students, parents, teachers, and communities in our region responded by participating in impressive numbers. According to the Walk & Bike to School Day website, there were over 460 Walk to School Day events in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia!

TPB and BRTB approve $3.8 million in Transportation Alternatives Program projects in Maryland

The National Capital Region Transportation Planning Board (TPB) and the Baltimore Regional Transportation Board (BRTB) have approved nine new projects in Maryland to receive $3.8 million in funding under the federal Transportation Alternatives Program. Also known as Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside, this program provides federal capital funding to bicycle, pedestrian, recreational trail and Safe Routes to School projects. 

Safe Routes to School Regional Network Meeting

On Tuesday, February 28, 2017 30+ advocates and practitioners joined us at the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments to talk about all things Safe Routes to School in the Greater Washington, DC region!

The exciting lineup of speakers covered a wide range of issues from Washington D.C.’s universal bicycle education program, to regional funding opportunities, equity and public health initiatives, and much more!
