The National Capital Region Transportation Planning Board (TPB) and the Baltimore Regional Transportation Board (BRTB) have approved nine new projects in Maryland to receive $3.8 million in funding under the federal Transportation Alternatives Program. Also known as Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside, this program provides federal capital funding to bicycle, pedestrian, recreational trail and Safe Routes to School projects.

We are pleased to report that five of the nine approved projects will provide funding to Safe Routes to School projects in the cities of Baltimore, College Park, Brunswick and Takoma Park as well as in Montgomery County.  Visit the TPB and BRTB websites to learn more about these and the other selected projects.

Additional funding decisions from the Maryland State Highway Administration are expected by the end of October.
